National
• India's 58th Tiger Reserve - The central government declared Madhav National Park in Madhya Pradesh as the country's 58th tiger reserve on March 9, 2025. This was announced by Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav. It is Madhya Pradesh's 9th tiger reserve. It is located in Shivpuri and covers an area of 37,523.344 hectares.
• "SheTARA" Health Campaign - "SheTARA" is a health campaign launched by Star Health Insurance on the occasion of International Women's Day. Its main objective is to increase health awareness among women and to increase their participation as health insurance agents.
• Poshan Abhiyaan completes seven years - Poshan Abhiyaan completed seven years on 8 March 2025. This Abhiyaan is a significant effort to raise nutrition levels and eliminate malnutrition across the country. The main objective of the campaign is to prevent and reduce malnutrition among adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children aged 0-6 years. The Poshan Abhiyaan was launched by the Prime Minister in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, 2018.
• Prime Minister's visit to Mauritius - At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid a State Visit to Mauritius on 11-12 March 2025 to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the Chief Guest on 12 March. The Prime Minister had earlier visited Mauritius in 2015. During the ceremony, Mauritian President Dharambir Gokul presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Mauritius' highest civilian honour, the "Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean." He became the first Indian leader to receive the honour.
During this, the Prime Minister presented Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card to Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhul and his wife Brinda Gokhul. At this event, PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora. He began his speech in Bhojpuri.
• India 2047: Building a Climate-Resilient Future Conference, 2025 - The "India 2047: Building a Climate-Resilient Future" conference was held in New Delhi from 19 to 22 March 2025.
• 10th Raisina Dialogue, 2025 - The 10th edition of the Raisina Dialogue will be held in New Delhi from March 17-19, 2025. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the dialogue on March 17. Delegates from approximately 125 countries will participate in the 10th Raisina Dialogue. The theme of the 2025 edition is "Kalachakra – People, Peace and Planet". The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Hon. Christopher Luxon will attend the inaugural session as the Chief Guest and deliver the keynote address.
Over the course of three days, the world's decision-makers and thought leaders will engage with each other through conversations in various formats across six thematic pillars: (i) Politics Disrupted: Shifting Sands and Rising Tides; (ii) Solving the Green Trilemma: Who, Where, and How; (iii) Digital Planet: Agents, Agencies, and Absence; (iv) Militant Mercantilism: Addiction to Trade, Supply, and Exchange Rates; (v) The Tiger Story: Rewriting Development with a New Plan; and (vi) Investing in Peace: Drivers, Institutions, and Leadership. • Ministry of Home Affairs – Defence Research and Development Organisation Collaboration Conference-cum-Exhibition, 2025 – Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Ministry of Home Affairs – Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Collaboration Conference-cum-Exhibition on 'Advanced Technologies for Internal Security and Disaster Relief Operations' at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi on March 04, 2025.
• Visit of the President of the European Commission to India - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, accompanied by the European Union's College of Commissioners, paid an official visit to India on 27 and 28 February 2025. This was her third visit to India. Significantly, the European Union is India's largest trading partner and investor.
• 86th India-Bangladesh Joint River Commission Meeting, 2025 – The 86th India-Bangladesh Joint River Commission Meeting, 2025 was held in Kolkata on March 6-7, 2025. River experts from India and Bangladesh visited Farakka in West Bengal to review the water level in Farakka in connection with the renewal of the Ganga Water Treaty, which expires in December 2026.
• 135th Foundation Day of the National Archives of India - The National Archives of India celebrated its 135th Foundation Day on March 11, 2025 with an exhibition focused on “Indian Heritage through Architecture”. The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism.
• G20 Trade and Investment Working Group Meeting 2025 – The G20 Trade and Investment Working Group Meeting 2025 was held virtually on March 18-20, 2025. South Africa hosted the meeting for the first time.
• Yoga Mahotsav, 2025 - The Yoga Mahotsav, 2025 was held in New Delhi on March 13, 2025. It was inaugurated by Pratap Rao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.
• AAHAR-2025 - AAHAR 2025 International Food and Hospitality Fair was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi from March 4 to 8, 2025. It was the 39th edition. The main objectives of AAHAR 2025 were to showcase India's excellence in agriculture and processed foods and to promote food processing and exports.
• Sahitya Utsav, 2025 - Sahitya Akademi's annual literary festival, Sahitya Utsav (Festival of Letters), 2025 was held in New Delhi from March 7-12, 2025. The theme of the festival was - Indian Literary Traditions . It is Asia's largest literary festival. Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the festival. The prestigious Sahitya Akademi Awards were presented in 23 languages. On the last day of the festival, a one-day event “Spin a Tale” was organised for children.
• 2nd Edition of 'Amrit Mahotsav of Diversity', 2025 - The President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the 2nd Edition of 'Amrit Mahotsav of Diversity' on March 5, 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. The second edition of the festival focuses on the southern states, showcasing the rich heritage and vibrant cultures of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Puducherry to visitors. Its first edition was held last year, focusing on Northeast India.
• Three Guinness World Records were set during the Maha Kumbh Mela – The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj officially concluded with the Mahashivratri bath on February 26, 2025. The Kumbh Mela had begun on January 13, 2025. Over 660 million devotees took a holy dip during the 45-day long Kumbh Mela. The UP government created a total of three Guinness World Records after the Maha Kumbh 2025 concluded.
The first Guinness World Record was awarded for cleaning the Ganges River. More than 300 sanitation workers simultaneously cleaned the Ganges River at different ghats, setting a world record. This marked the largest number of volunteers participating in a river cleanup campaign at a single location. The second record was of 19000 people sweeping together. The third record was of 10,102 people in hand painting.
• Mobile World Congress 2025 – Mobile World Congress 2025 was held in Barcelona, Spain on March 3–6, 2025. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia represented India at the event. He also unveiled the opening ceremony of the India Mobile Congress 2025 and inaugurated the 'India Pavilion'.
• Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to France and the United States of America – Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited France and the United States of America from February 10 to 13, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited France from February 10 to 12, 2025, at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. During this visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-chaired the AI Action Summit with President Emmanuel Macron.
The two sides have agreed to celebrate the following year, 2026, as the India-France Year of Innovation. The two leaders jointly inaugurated the new Indian Consulate in Marseille, which the Prime Minister had announced during his visit to Paris in July 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United States on February 13, 2025. This was the Prime Minister's first visit to the United States after President Donald Trump was sworn in for a second term.
• Vantara - Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Vantara, a unique wildlife conservation, rescue and rehabilitation initiative, in Jamnagar, Gujarat. It is run by Anant Ambani under Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Vantara is one of the world's largest wildlife rescue and conservation centers, housing over 150,000 rescued, endangered and threatened animals from over 2,000 species.
• “Nutrition as well as Education” Training Programme – On March 4, 2025, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the “Nutrition as well as Education” training programme under the centrally sponsored Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0 scheme. Its objective is to provide early stimulation in the first thousand days of childhood, promote ECCE (Care and Education) for the age group of 3 to 6 years, develop basic understanding of ECCE and educational approaches among Anganwadi workers, and provide high quality play-based education.
• India's First River Dolphin Census Report - Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 7th meeting of the National Board for Wildlife in Gir National Park, Gujarat. During the meeting, he released the country's first River Dolphin Census Report. According to the report, a total of 6,327 river dolphins have been found in India. The study was conducted in 28 rivers across eight states, covering a distance of 8,500 kilometers over 3,150 working days. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of dolphins (2,397), followed by Bihar (2,220), West Bengal, and Assam.
• 7th Meeting of the National Board for Wildlife, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 7th Meeting of the National Board for Wildlife on March 3, 2025 at Gir National Park, Gujarat. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of the National Wildlife Referral Centre in Junagadh. This centre will be a major hub for wildlife health and disease management. He also announced the launch of the 16th census of Asiatic lions in 2025. The Prime Minister also announced plans to reintroduce leopards into the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary (Madhya Pradesh) and the Banni Grasslands (Gujarat).
• India's first World Peace Center - On March 2, 2025, former President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated India's first World Peace Center in Gurugram, Haryana. The center is being established under the leadership of Jain Acharya Lokesh Muni and with the efforts of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti.
• First breeding record of Blue-cheeked Bee-eater in India – The first breeding record of Blue-cheeked Bee-eater (Merops persicus) in peninsular India has been recorded recently in the brackish plains of Andivilai near Manakudi Mangroves in Kanyakumari district which is located near Manakudi Mangroves in Tamil Nadu. This discovery has also been confirmed in an article published in the international ornithological journal Ornis Hungarica. The Blue-cheeked Bee-eater is a bee-eating bird belonging to the family Meropidae. This bird is usually found in subtropical semi-desert areas, but has recently been observed breeding near the mangroves of Aandivilai.
• Aravali Safari Park Project – The Haryana government's ambitious 3,858 hectare Aravali Safari Park project spread across Gurugram and Nuh is envisaged to be the world's largest safari park.
• Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute - Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute in Garha village of Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The institute will be built on a 10-acre site and will have a 100-bed facility in the first phase. Costing over ₹200 crore, the cancer hospital will provide free treatment to underprivileged cancer patients.
• Formation of 'Adolescent Girls Clubs' for Girls in Schools in Nagaland - In Nagaland, "Adolescent Girls Clubs" have been started for girls in schools under Mission Shakti. These are being established in both government and private schools in Nagaland. Motto: “Live the Promise” – focusing on education, health and leadership development. Its main objective is to empower girls aged 10 to 19 years, to help them develop education, health awareness, social skills and life skills. The first teenage girl's club was launched on 5 October 2024 at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha.
• 51st Khajuraho Dance Festival, 2025 - The 51st Khajuraho Dance Festival was held from 20 to 26 February 2025 in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. During this event, 139 dancers from 25 groups performed a classical dance marathon (relay) for more than 24 hours continuously. The festival also awarded a Guinness World Record for the longest classical dance marathon (relay). Chief Minister Mohan Yadav accepted the award.
• Jhumor Binandini Event, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 'Jhumor Binandini 2025' in Guwahati, Assam, involving over 8000 dancers and musicians, to commemorate 200 years of the tea industry. PM Modi announced schemes like 300 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, 100 model schools, wage compensation scheme for pregnant tea workers and 3% OBC reservation for the tea tribe community.
• Green Shipping Conclave 2025 – The Green Shipping Conclave 2025 was held in Mumbai on February 20, 2025. The conclave was organised to raise awareness about climate change and environmental sustainability in the maritime industry.
• First Phase of the 'Nation's Nature Testing Campaign' - A closing ceremony was held in Mumbai on February 20, 2025 to mark the completion of the first phase of the 'Nation's Nature Testing Campaign'. It was organized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
• Bathouism - "Bathouism" is a folk religion of the Bodo people, found primarily in Assam (India). It is also called "Bathou". The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government recently included "Baathoism" as an option for official religion in various application forms. The council has formally requested the Registrar General of India (RGI) to recognise "Baathouism" in the national census.
• Arunachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicrafts Policy, 2024 - The Arunachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has approved the "Arunachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicrafts Policy - 2024" to empower the state's artisans. Under the policy, a digital database for weavers will be created.
• 27th Meeting of the Western Zonal Council, 2025 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 27th Meeting of the Western Zonal Council in Pune, Maharashtra, attended by leaders from Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Union Territories, and stressed on establishing the Regional Councils as a strategic decision-making platform. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah expressed concern over the prevalence of malnutrition and stunting among children and citizens of the Member States. He urged prioritizing eliminating malnutrition to improve overall health.
He also expressed concern over the import of pulses and stressed the need to boost domestic production. A new target was set to establish bank branches or postal banking facilities within three kilometres of every village, as against the earlier target of five kilometres.
• Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela, 2025 - The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) 's Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela, 2025 was held in New Delhi . The theme of the fair is "Advanced Agriculture - Developed India." Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function. Shri Ram Nath Thakur, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and Shri Bhagirath Choudhary were the Chief Guests at the Valedictory Session on February 24, 2025.
• SilkTech, 2025 – Central Silk Board's International Conference - SilkTech, 2025 was organised in February, 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
• Extension of translation services to six new languages in Parliament – Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced the extension of translation services to six new languages in Parliament including Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Urdu and Sanskrit. Earlier, translation services were available in 10 languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu apart from Hindi and English.
• Bill of Lading Bill, 2025 – The Bill of Lading Bill, 2025 was passed by the Lok Sabha on March 10, 2025. The bill aims to update and simplify the legal framework for shipping documents.
• Income Tax Bill, 2025 – The Income Tax Bill, 2025 was introduced in Parliament on February 13, 2025. This bill would replace the Income Tax Act, 1961. If passed, it would take effect on April 1, 2026.The new bill aims to simplify tax laws, introduce clear terminology and incorporate modern tax concepts. The Bill provides for replacing the words “Assessment Year” and “Previous Year” with “Tax Year” .
The number of sections in the Income Tax Act of 1961 was 298, which has been increased to 536. The number of schedules has been increased from 14 to 16. The chapters have been reduced from 47 to 23 and the words have been reduced from 512,535 to 259,676.
• Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign – Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign programme in Limbayat, Surat .
• 'Insuring Heroes' Campaign - The 'Insuring Heroes' campaign is a campaign launched by PhonePe to promote financial security for women. Under this campaign, women are being offered special discounts on term life and health insurance plans.
• Project Hifazat - Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur launched 'Project Hifazat.' It aims to strengthen the response system for victims of violence against women and children.
• Emperor Jarasandha Memorial - Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the Emperor Jarasandha Memorial at the Jayaprakash Udyan in Rajgir, Nalanda district, by cutting the ribbon. This 21-foot-tall symbolic statue of the great Emperor Jarasandha is located.
• Four historical heritage sites from Madhya Pradesh have been included in the Tentative List - Four historical heritage sites from Madhya Pradesh have been included in UNESCO's Tentative List. These include the inscriptions of Emperor Ashoka, the Chausath Yogini Temple, Gupta temples and forts and palaces from the Bundela period.
• Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru University – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that Bengaluru City University will be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru University.
• Empowered Panchayat-Netri Abhiyaan - The Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched the "Empowered Panchayat-Netri Abhiyaan" at the National Workshop on Women Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions in New Delhi. The campaign aims to strengthen women elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions across the country.
• One Nation One Port – The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways launched several initiatives including “One Nation, One Port Procedure” (ONOP) to standardise and streamline operations at major ports.
• Udan Yatri Cafe inaugurated at Chennai Airport – Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated the Udan Yatri Cafe at Chennai Airport on February 27, 2025. This is the second cafe under this initiative. The first flight passenger cafe was launched on December 19, 2024 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.
• Adarsh Women-Friendly Gram Panchayat Initiative – Adarsh Women-Friendly Gram Panchayat Initiative was launched on 5 March 2025 in New Delhi with the aim of promoting women equality at the grassroots level. The Model Women-Friendly Gram Panchayat Initiative is an initiative that aims to establish at least one model Gram Panchayat in each district that is friendly to women and girls. This initiative focuses on promoting women's participation, safety, and leadership in panchayats.
• National Horticulture Fair, 2025 – National Horticulture Fair 2025 was organised by ICAR-IIHR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research) in Bengaluru, which ran from 27 February to 1 March 2025. The fair was organised under the theme "Horticulture for a Developed India: Nutrition, Empowerment and Livelihoods" .
• Five new spiritual corridors announced in Uttar Pradesh – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the development of five new spiritual corridors in the state after the conclusion of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The five new spiritual corridors are–
Prayagraj-Vindhyachal-Kashi Corridor – This corridor connects Prayagraj to Vindhyachal Devi Dham and then to Kashi (Varanasi).
Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur Corridor – It connects Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, and Gorakhpur.
Prayagraj-Lucknow-Naimisharanya Corridor – Connects Prayagraj to Naimisharanya Dham.
Prayagraj-Rajapur-Chitrakoot Corridor – Connects important sites related to the exile of Lord Rama, including Chitrakoot Dham, Kamadgiri Hill, Ramghat, Hanuman Dhara and Rajapur, the birthplace of Goswami Tulsidas ji.
Prayagraj-Mathura-Vrindavan-Shuktirtha Corridor – This route will facilitate devotees to visit important places related to Lord Krishna in Mathura, Vrindavan and Shuktirtha.
•Financial year 2024-25 has been declared as the Youth Year in Arunachal Pradesh.
• Unveiling of Thiruvalluvar statue– The statue of Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar has been unveiled in the Philippines. The statue was installed at a ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and the Philippines. The statue was installed at the Gullas College of Medicine in Cebu.
• 38th National Games, 2025 – The 38th National Games were held in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, 2025. On January 28, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 38th National Games in Dehradun. The closing ceremony of the games was held on February 14, 2025 at the International Sports Complex, Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha announced the closing of the 38th National Games. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah was the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
The theme of the National Games this year was “Green Games”. The mascot of the 38th National Games was "Mouli", inspired by the Monal, the state bird of Uttarakhand.The official Olympic torch for the Games is named Tejaswini. Tagline of the 38th National Games – “From Resolution to Peak”. Initially Mallakhamb and Yogasana were announced as demonstration sports, but were later converted into medal sports. Two sports, Kalaripayattu and rafting, were demonstration sports in which no medals were awarded to the participants.
The upcoming 39th edition of the National Games will be hosted by Meghalaya, which will be hosting the National Games for the first time.The Services Sports Control Board or Army team topped the medal tally at the 38th National Games with a total of 121 medals (68 gold, 26 silver and 27 bronze) and won the Raja Bhalinder Singh Trophy.
Maharashtra finished second in the medal tally with 201 medals including 54 gold medals. Haryana finished third in the medal tally by winning 153 medals (48 gold, 47 silver and 58 bronze). Madhya Pradesh finished fourth with 82 medals (34 gold, 26 silver and 22 bronze). Uttarakhand finished 7th in the medal tally by winning a total of 103 medals including 24 gold. Uttar Pradesh finished 13th in the medal tally by winning a total of 56 medals including 13 gold.

• 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), 2025 - The 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), 2025 was held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 10-21 March 2025. It is a session of a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). CSW is the leading global inter-governmental body dedicated exclusively to promoting gender equality, rights and the empowerment of women.
• Emergency Arab League Summit 2025 - The Emergency Arab League Summit 2025 was held in Cairo, Egypt on March 4, 2025. During the summit, Arab League leaders presented a $53 billion plan to rebuild Gaza. The conference was held to counter the US President's threats to expel Palestinians from their land and the Israeli Prime Minister's desire to destroy the ceasefire and resume the genocidal war on Gaza.
• 7th ASEAN Gaming Summit, 2025 – The 7th ASEAN Gaming Summit took place from March 17, 2025 to March 19, 2025 at the Shangri-La Fort in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
• International Labour Organization 353rd Governing Body Meeting, 2025 - The 353rd Governing Body Meeting of the International Labour Organization (ILO) was held in Geneva, Switzerland from March 10 to March 20, 2025. Labour and Employment Secretary Sumita Davra led the Indian delegation. This meeting brings together representatives of the ILO's tripartite components, namely governments, workers and employers, to discuss important issues relating to the world of work and the governance of the ILO.
• Official language of the United States – In March 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump issued an executive order declaring English the official language of the United States at the federal level for the first time in the country's history.
• Mount Dukono volcano erupts - Mount Dukono volcano, located in Indonesia's North Maluku province, erupted. Located on Halmahera Island, the volcano spewed ash up to a height of 2,000 meters.
• 1st India-EU Workshop on Electric Vehicle Charging Technologies, 2025 – The 1st India-EU Workshop on Electric Vehicle Charging Technologies was held on 24 February 2025 in Pune, India.
• India-France Bilateral Dialogue on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, 2025 – India-France Bilateral Dialogue on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, 2025 was held on February 14, 2025 in Paris , France.
• G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, 2025 - G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, 2025 was held in Johannesburg, South Africa in February 2025. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar represented India at the meeting.
• Gulfood 2025 - The 30th edition of Gulfood 2025, one of the world's largest food and beverage trade exhibitions was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from February 17-21, 2025. The theme was The Next Frontier in Food.
• US-Russia High-Level Dialogue, 2025 - On February 18, 2025, the US-Russia High-Level Dialogue, 2025 was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to end the Ukraine crisis. High-level US and Russian delegations led by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attended the meeting. It agreed to push for an end to the Ukrainian crisis, although Ukraine was not included in the talks.
• 9th Asian Winter Games, 2025- The 9th Asian Winter Games were held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China from 7-14 February 2025. The official mascots of the Games were "Binbin" and "Nini" (tiger), symbolizing unity and a love of winter sports. The motto of the Games was "Dream of Winter, Love Among Asia." China topped the medal table with 85 medals (32 gold, 27 silver, 26 bronze). India did not win any medals. The 10th Asian Winter Games, 2029 will be held in Saudi Arabia (NEOM 2029).

• 2nd Meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council, 2025 – The 2nd Meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) was held on 28 February 2025 in New Delhi. It was co-chaired from the Indian side by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen established the India-EU TTC in April 2022, an important bilateral platform to address challenges in the areas of trade, trusted technology and security.
• Crypto Summit 2025 – The Crypto Summit 2025 was held at the White House, USA in March 2025. Recently, US President Donald Trump signed an order establishing a Bitcoin reserve in the country.
• Uttar Pradesh Budget, 2025-2026 - On February 20, 2024, Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the budget for the financial year 2025-2026 in the Assembly.The size of the presented budget is ₹8,08,736 crore . This is 9.8 percent more than the budget for the year 2024-2025.
Key highlights of the budget-
In this budget, 22 percent resources have been allocated for infrastructure development, 13 percent for education, 11 percent for agriculture and allied services, 6 percent in the field of medicine and health, 4 percent for social security programmes.
Special arrangements have been proposed in the budget to equip the Assembly with modern IT systems.
To develop the state as a hub in the field of Artificial Intelligence, a new scheme for establishment of 'Artificial Intelligence City' and Cyber Security Technology Research Translation Park has been included in the budget.
The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the "Zero Poverty Campaign" on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2024. Under this campaign, the poorest families in each Gram Panchayat are identified and action is being taken to meet their basic needs and raise their annual income to at least ₹125,000.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, an amount of approximately Rs 79,500 crore was transferred to approximately 03 crore farmers through DBT.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, compensation of about Rs 496 crore was paid to about 10 lakh insured farmers in the financial year 2024-2025.
With the average sugarcane productivity increasing from 72 tonnes per hectare to 85 tonnes per hectare, farmers' income increased by an average of Rs 370 per quintal to Rs 43,364 per hectare.
Under Lakhpati Mahila Yojana, more than 31 lakh sisters were identified and more than 02 lakh women have come in the category of Lakhpati.
A new scheme is being introduced to provide scooties to meritorious students pursuing higher education on the basis of eligibility.
49.86 lakh smart phones/tablets have been distributed under Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme.
With the aim of providing coaching facilities to competitive students near their homes, the Chief Minister Abhyudaya Yojana is being run by the state government in all the districts of the state.
Under the Prime Minister's Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, 54,833 candidates were recruited for apprenticeship training in the session 2024-25.
The Chief Minister's Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign Scheme was launched in 2024-2025 with the aim of connecting the state's educated and trained youth with self-employment and providing financial resources for the establishment of new micro-enterprises. This is the first scheme of its kind, providing guarantee-free and interest-free loans to youth for setting up micro-enterprises. The target under this scheme is to establish 100,000 new micro-enterprises annually.
Under the MNREGA scheme, against the target of 26 crore man-days in the last financial year 2024-2025, 27.40 crore man-days have been created till January 8, 2025 and 100 days of employment has been provided to 3,13,076 families. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in man-days creation and financial progress. The participation of women under the MNREGA scheme in the financial year 2024-2025 is 42 percent.
A total of 6,62,672 enterprises were registered through Investment Mitra in the financial year 2024-2025 till November, 2024, in which 59,64,048 jobs were created.
Under the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana, there is a provision to provide Rs 55,000 in case of intra-caste marriage of two girls of a registered labourer and Rs 61,000 in case of inter-caste marriage.
Residential School Scheme is being operated in 12 districts of the state, in which there is a provision to admit 100 boys and 100 girls in each school.
To provide free, quality, and purposeful education to the children of construction workers, one Atal Residential School with a capacity of 360 children has been established in each division of the state. The capacity of these schools will be increased to 1,000 students per school in the future.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the state is at the first position in the country with 9.57 crore accounts.
Uttar Pradesh is at the first position with 6.52 crore enrollments in the state so far under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
Uttar Pradesh is at the first position with 2.28 crore enrollments in the state so far under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana.
The state has performed excellently so far with 1.12 crore enrolments under the Atal Pension Scheme.
The work of establishing 06 new forensic science laboratories is underway in the districts of Ayodhya, Basti, Banda, Azamgarh, Mirzapur and Saharanpur.
At present there are 80 medical colleges in the state, out of which 44 are run by the state government and 36 are in the private sector.
There are 02 AIIMS and IMS, BHU, Varanasi and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh operating in the state.
In the year 2024-2025, 13 autonomous medical colleges and new medical colleges have been established in 03 districts- Maharajganj, Sambhal and Shamli on PPP mode.
A provision of Rs 27 crore and Rs 25 crore is proposed for the establishment of autonomous state medical colleges in Ballia and Balrampur districts respectively.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman cards have been issued for 5.13 crore people. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in issuing Ayushman cards.
The state government successfully organised the Global Investors Summit, in which MoUs worth approximately Rs 36 lakh crore were signed.
The state government has decided to construct four new expressways in the state.
An entry-controlled green field expressway will be constructed from Agra-Lucknow Expressway to Ganga Expressway Kausia, Hardoi district via Farrukhabad, for which a provision of Rs 900 crore is proposed.
A provision of Rs 50 crore is proposed for the construction of Vindhya Expressway to connect Ganga Expressway to Sonbhadra via Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli.
Construction of Ganga Expressway Extension Expressway is proposed to connect Meerut with Haridwar, for which an arrangement of Rs 50 crore is being made.
Construction of Bundelkhand Rewa Expressway is proposed, for which an arrangement of Rs 50 crore is being made.
Approximately ₹461 crore is proposed for the Defense Industrial Corridor project along the Bundelkhand Expressway. An investment of approximately ₹9,500 crore is estimated under this project.
A provision of Rs 5 crore is proposed for the development of Artificial Intelligence City in Lucknow.
Handloom industry is the decentralized cottage industry which provides maximum employment in Uttar Pradesh after agriculture sector.
To attract global investors to the semiconductor sector, the Uttar Pradesh Semiconductor Policy, 2024 has been promulgated. Uttar Pradesh is the fourth state to introduce dedicated provisions for semiconductor units.
The Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region and Other Regions Development Authority Act, 2024, was promulgated to establish the State Capital Region encompassing the area surrounding the capital Lucknow and to prepare regional plans for other regions. The State Capital Region includes six districts: Lucknow, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, and Unnao.
So far, about 39 lakh drinking water connections have been provided under Amrit Yojana 2.0.
A provision of Rs 3150 crore is proposed for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 1.0 and a provision of approximately Rs 1732 crore is proposed for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0.
Before 2017, the state had only four operational airports, while currently there are 16. The state already has four operational international airports. With the Jewar airport soon to become operational, the state will have five international airports.
A provision of Rs 100 crore is proposed for the establishment of Mahatma Buddha Agriculture and Technology University in Kushinagar district.
Uttar Pradesh is the largest milk producing state in India.
An amount of Rs 25 crore has been arranged for the construction work of Uttar Pradesh Sainik School, Lucknow.
A provision of Rs 13 crore is proposed for the construction of government Sanskrit schools.
The first Sainik School of Purvanchal and the second of the state was established and operated in Gorakhpur district.
Under the Rani Lakshmi Bai Scooty Scheme, a provision of Rs 400 crore is proposed to provide scooties to meritorious college-going girl students.
An amount of Rs 50 crore is proposed for the establishment of Maa Vindhyavasini State University in Vindhyachal Dham Mandal.
A provision of Rs 25 crore is proposed for the establishment of a Science City in Agra and Rs 5 crore for the establishment of a Science City and Planetarium in Varanasi.
A state-level sports university is being constructed in Meerut district, for which a total provision of Rs 223 crore is proposed.
An international cricket stadium is being constructed in Varanasi district on the PPP model and the Sigra Stadium in Varanasi is being extensively developed under Khelo India.
For the first time in the state, Khelo India Centres are being operated in 72 districts under the “One District One Sport” scheme with the support of the Government of India.
The process of selection for training etc. is proposed in the remaining 03 districts in the financial year 2025-2026.
For the construction of Shri Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj Temple Mathura-Vrindavan Corridor, a budget provision of Rs 100 crore for purchase of land and Rs 50 crore for construction is proposed.
In order to develop the circumambulation path and public convenience places of Maa Vindhyavasini Temple, Maa Ashtabhuja Temple, Maa Kali Khoh Temple in the triangular area of Mirzapur district, a provision of Rs 100 crore is proposed for purchasing land and Rs 100 crore for large scale construction.
• Allocation for offshore construction sand blocks – Union Minister of Mines and Coal Shri G. Kishan Reddy and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis handed over the Letter of Intent (LOI) for grant of Composite License in respect of offshore construction sand blocks to the Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) in Mumbai. Construction sand from the offshore mineral block located off the coast of Maharashtra will be used by JNPA for reclamation and development of the Greenfield port at Wadhawan, Palghar, Maharashtra.
This is the first time that mineral blocks are being allocated for exploration and production of minerals in India's offshore areas. Parliament amended the Offshore Areas Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 2002 in August 2023, inter alia, introducing a provision for reservation of mineral blocks to the government, government companies or corporations for the purposes of the central government.
• Navratna Status to IRCTC and IRFC - IRCTC and IRFC have been granted Navratna status. IRCTC has become the 25th and IRFC the 26th Navratna CPSEs. This status gives them greater autonomy and financial powers in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
• 'Bond Central' - Centralized Database Portal 'Bond Central' is a portal launched by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) that provides a single, authentic source of information for corporate bonds. It has been developed by the Online Bond Platform Providers (OBPP) Association, working in collaboration with Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) comprising stock exchanges and depositories.
• Agreement between Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) and Government of Madhya Pradesh - An agreement has been signed between Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) and Government of Madhya Pradesh in which a 200 MW solar project and 1000 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) will be developed in Madhya Pradesh. The agreement was signed during the Global Investors Summit 2025 held in Bhopal on February 24-25, 2025.
• India becomes the second country to launch digital pilot licence – Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu launched the Electronic Personnel Licence (EPL) for pilots, a groundbreaking initiative to modernise and improve the safety, security, and efficiency of India's civil aviation sector. India became the second country in the world to implement digital pilot licence after getting approval from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
• India-Qatar Joint Business Forum, 2025 – India-Qatar Joint Business Forum was organised in New Delhi on 18 February with the aim of further strengthening economic cooperation between India and Qatar. This high-level business forum was organised by the joint efforts of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) .

• Sea Dragon 2025 – The Sea Dragon 2025 naval exercise, a high-intensity anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise, is held at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, in the western Pacific Ocean. The exercise, hosted by the United States Navy's 7th Fleet, ran from March 4 to March 19, 2025. The exercise involved India, Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the United States. The objective of this event is to promote the Indo-Pacific region. to strengthen maritime security operations in.
• Semiconductor Startup Award to AGNIT Semiconductors – AGNIT Semiconductors has been awarded the Semiconductor Startup Award 2025 by the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA). The award was given at the IESA Vision Summit 2025 held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on March 6, 2025. AGNIT Semiconductors is India's only vertically integrated Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor company.
• Successful test of indigenous Astra missile – On March 12, 2025, the indigenous Astra missile was successfully tested from the Chandipur coast of Odisha. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) of the Defence Ministry successfully test-fired the indigenous Astra missile from the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft Air Force Mark-1 prototype fighter aircraft. It is a beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile. It is capable of engaging targets at ranges of over 100 kilometers. It can also destroy targets that are invisible to the pilot. The Astra missile has been designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
• ASSAMSAT Satellite – On March 10, 2025, the Assam government launched the satellite ASAMSAT to collect data for socio-economic projects and border surveillance. government announced plans to launch. It is a cave-dwelling, insectivorous bat found in India and Sri Lanka.The species is named in honour of W.W.A. Phillips, a renowned zoologist who studied the mammals of Sri Lanka and South Asia.
• Barite, feldspar, mica, and quartz included in the category of 'major' minerals - The Ministry of Mines announced the inclusion of barite, feldspar, mica and quartz in the category of 'major' minerals through a gazette notification dated February 20, 2025. Previously, these minerals were classified as 'minor' minerals. It aims to promote exploration and scientific mining of these resources, which are the primary source of many important minerals.

• World 's first quantum chip - Microsoft has launched the world's first quantum chip called Majorana 1. The chip is based on a topological core architecture, and is designed to revolutionize quantum computing. This is the first quantum chip that uses a topological superconductor, also known as a topoconductor. The chip makes qubits, the basic unit of information in quantum computing, more stable and less prone to errors. It can be scaled up to one million qubits and is so small that it can fit in the palm of your hand.
• Matsya-6000 - Matsya 6000 is an Indian manned submersible designed to penetrate to depths of 6000 meters. Its purpose is marine exploration, mineral resource exploration, and biodiversity studies. It is being developed by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) under the Samudrayaan Mission. It can carry three people.

Keshkar Thakur for Maithili translation of Vibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhyay's Bengali novel 'Aranyak'. Translation awards in Nepali and Sanskrit languages will be announced later.

• Mahila Samriddhi Yojana - On March 8, 2025, the Delhi government approved the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to poor women. Under this scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month to eligible women. The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana will only benefit women living below the poverty line. A BPL card is mandatory for this scheme.
• Chief Minister Girl Child Prosperity Scheme and Chief Minister Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana – On March 9, 2025, Bharatiya Janata Party President and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda announced two new schemes for girls in Tripura, Chief Minister Girl Child Prosperity Scheme and Chief Minister Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana. Under the Chief Minister's Girl Child Prosperity Scheme, the state government will deposit ₹50,000 in the form of a bond for the birth of a girl child in a family living below the poverty line. When the girl turns 18, she will receive a total of ₹8 to 10 lakh.
• State Employees Health Insurance Scheme in Jharkhand - Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched the health insurance scheme. Under this scheme, state employees will receive free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.
• Biofuel Scheme, 2025 - The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the Biofuel Scheme-2025 under the Renewable Energy Policy-2025 to make the state a leader in biofuel production.
• Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojana - The Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojana was officially launched in Puducherry recently. Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry K. Kailasanathan formally inaugurated the scheme in the presence of Chief Minister N. Rangasamy. This is a centrally sponsored scheme. Under this scheme, senior citizens aged 70 years and above are provided free health insurance coverage up to Rs 5 lakh per year.
• Antyodaya Griha Yojana - Antyodaya Griha Yojana is a scheme to provide houses to poor families in the state of Odisha. This scheme was launched by the Odisha government and aims to improve the lives of the underprivileged.

• Exercise Khanjar, 2025 - Exercise Khanjar, also known as Khanjar-XII, is a joint special forces exercise between India and Kyrgyzstan. The 12th edition of the exercise was held in Kyrgyzstan from March 10 to March 23, 2025. The exercise aims to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism and special forces operations, including skills such as sniping, building intervention and mountain warfare.

• Dharma Guardian, 2025 – Dharma Guardian, 2025 was a joint military exercise between India and Japan, held from 25 February to 9 March 2025 at the East Fuji Maneuver Training Area, Japan. The exercise was conducted to strengthen the strategic capabilities of both armies in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, and the exercise also helps in strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
• Desert Hunt, 2025 – Indian Air Force conducted an integrated tri-services special forces exercise named Desert Hunt-2025 at Air Force Station, Jodhpur from 24 to 28 February 2025. The exercise saw the elite Para (Special Forces) of the Indian Army, Marine Commandos of the Indian Navy and Garud (Special Forces) of the Indian Air Force participating together in a simulated combat environment. The aim of the exercise was to enhance interoperability, coordination and synergy between the three Special Forces units to ensure quick and effective response to emerging security challenges.

• Financial Assistance Agreement for India's First Commercial Semiconductor Fab - A financial assistance agreement has been signed to establish India's first commercial semiconductor fab. The agreement was signed between the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), and Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Private Limited (TSMPL). The agreement is a significant step towards implementing an over Rs 91,000 crore semiconductor project in Dholera, Gujarat.
• MoU under 'Nanha Sa Dil' initiative - Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL) and Northern Coalfields Ltd. (NCL), subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd. The final was played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur. In the final, Vidarbha defeated Kerala on the basis of first innings lead to win the title. This is Vidarbha's third Ranji Trophy title.In the final, Vidarbha batsman Danish Malewar was named Player of the Match. Vidarbha bowler Harsh Dubey was named Player of the Series. The captain of the Vidarbha team was Akshay Wadkar and the captain of the Kerala team was Sachin Baby.
• Record for fastest to 14,000 runs in ODI cricket – Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to score 14,000 runs in ODIs on February 23, 2025, during the Champions Trophy against Pakistan in Dubai. Kohli surpassed the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who took 350 innings to achieve the feat. Virat Kohli achieved the feat in his 287th innings. Kohli is the third batsman to score 14,000 runs in ODI cricket, behind India's Sachin Tendulkar (18,246 runs) and Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (14,234 runs).
• ICC Champions Trophy 2025 - The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy was the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy . It was hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board from 19 February to 9 March 2025. The opening ceremony took place on 19 February 2025 at the National Stadium in Karachi. A total of 15 matches were played at three venues in Pakistan (Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi) and one venue in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai). Afghanistan participated in the tournament for the first time. India played all their matches in Dubai. The Indian men's cricket team defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final to win the Champions Trophy title for a record third time. • Fastest Asian batsman to score 6,000 ODI runs - Pakistan batsman Babar Azam became the fastest Asian batsman to score 6,000 ODI runs. Babar achieved this milestone during the tri-series final against New Zealand at the National Stadium. He reached the landmark of 6,000 runs off the bowling of New Zealand's Jacob Duffy. Babar Azam achieved this feat in just 123 innings, equalling the record held by South African batsman Hashim Amla, who also took 123 innings to reach 6,000 ODI runs. Babar Azam surpassed India batsman Virat Kohli, who achieved the feat in 136 innings.
